2018 Beefsteak & Brew

Southington UNICO hosts the

2^nd Annual Beefsteak and Brew Dinner Thursday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. at Hawk’s Landing Country Club, 201 Pattonwood Dr. Southington, CT 06489.
Utensils will be available for the faint of heart and bread stacking is highly encouraged!

Tickets for this revival of a classic New York festival are $35 and include unlimited thin-sliced flat iron steak on crostini, fries, salad, beverages (two complimentary beers) and butcher hat. The event will also feature a cash bar.

New York City first started Beefsteak Dinners in the late 1800s. Initially held in taverns or dingy cellars where, sitting on crates or stools, guests would sing, tell stories, eat steaks, and drink ale with abandon.  Participants, adorned with butcher hats, ate tender morsels of beefsteak served on pieces of bread, wiping the grease on large napkins or aprons. No knives or forks were allowed. As the evening progressed, each dining group competed to build the tallest tower of greasy bread hunks. You don’t win an actual prize, but isn’t a giant tower of bread a reward in itself?!

Proceeds from the event are distributed to the various charities and non-profit activities supported by
UNICO Club of Southington.
